In fairness, Zaha was marked out the game. He had 1 decent run of note, and that piece of skill in the box. Other than that he was dogshit.

Overrated.

i'm not 'clambering' for anything........... but you dont need 9 players to defend. depends where the ball is etc etc....... but teams like Palace are most at risk when you turn the ball over.

Zaha, Hazard, Salah, Mane.......... they all do it to you. Ronaldo was amazing at it.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
goose, you could suggest him and Lanzini switch positions throughout the game, Yarmalenko will always stay wide however Lanzini and Anderson are capable of playing central and wide.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Would be a decent idea if either of our left backs could defend properly on their own.

remember how much Anderson was cunted off for not tracking back when he first started, now there are people clambering for him to do the opposite

Why is it weird to have an opinion if I viewed on TV?

Why is it odd to say palace aren't a terrible team when they have the third highest away points, they seem to have found a way however boring and shit it looks to be successful away from home, the stats tell you that, so seeing as they're the third most successful team on the road that indicates they're the third most difficult team to beat at home, yet you expect us to be beating awful teams like that easily...

It doesn't change the fact that he shouldn't be dropped, as however shit his heat map was, whatever the fuck that means and how under par he was he still created more chances than any other player.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
he can finish of course, he's blessed with a huge amount of talent. but he is far from clinical.
PDC is streets ahead of him in that department.

if you shift Anderson inside he will get crowded out 100%.
he is best out on the left and is still our most creative player.
only thing i'd like to see him do is not track back and force the full back to make a decision............Hazard was brilliant at that. He'd take up 'half' positions where the centre back wont come and mark him and the full back is busy pushing on.

360, go have a lie down mate. Jesus wept.

Taking Lanzini out for Arthur is fucking moronic as well.

Goose, Anderson can finish. He completely mistimed that volley. He is only human afterall.

Suggesting he's a better finisher than Di Canio well, is fucking spasticated.

goose 6:27 Mon Oct 7
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Anderson's best ever season in 9 or 10 goals.
Di Canios worst with us was 9.

Anderson hasn't scored in 23 games.

you see the volley he missed saturday? and you think he's a clinical finisher?

LOLZ.

Goose,

So The goals Anderson scores we're just simple tap ins?

The geezer can finish well

They have the same qualities, end of.

Come on, dont try and rewrite history by saying Anderson cant finish clinically.

The shit you read on here.

No one is saying (or at least I'm not) that we should replace Anderson with Arthur. Thats mad.

I think the idea is that the most comfortable player on the ball in the squad at this time is Anderson. And perhaps he should be played in the middle as a play maker. Especially as Lanzini isn't doing a lot.

And we could have Arthur playing wide left as we have done in the past. Especially as Creswell is fit so we have two left footers covering that side of the pitch who both can defend somewhat.

Its not rocking science. We dont penetrate defences who sit back. So we need people who can do that.

I dont think anyone is saying drop Anderson! Who knows, he might be a revelation in the middle of the park?

Roberto
Fredricks Diop Ogbonna Creswell
Rice Noble
Yarmelenko Anderson Arthur
Haller

At least we'd get some crosses in from the left instead of constantly cutting in!

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
the shit you read on here sometimes..........

Anderson is nothing like PDC. His finishing is nowhere near the level of PDC. To even compare them is ridiculous.

and moving Anderson inside will be even worse for him, the middle of the pitch is much more congested and he wont be playing on the half-turn like he can out wide.
it was like this when people were desperate to move Payet inside and Bilic explained why he's better out wide.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Say what you like about Anderson but he was influential in our goal. Laid it on a plate for Lanzini in first half chance and laid another on a plate for Haller in second half.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Crystal Palace - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
Whilst we lost, don't think we should piss our knickers just yet. It just brought us and the players back down to earth. Also, annoyingly Palace do have the 3rd best away record in the league over the last calendar year which is fucking bonkers.

Only change I'd make is move Lanzini wide and Anderson inside, and have Anderson play just off of Haller.

Trundle

Last few games his contribution has been great. He got an assist vs Norwich too.
After Anderson's performance saturday i wouldnt be against the idea of seeing Arthur in there. If, and i know it can be a big if....he keeps up the form he showed before his red then he will be a far better option then Anderson if he plays the same as he did sat.

Fraser

Ok bit weird to critique my review of Anderson and Palace on sat if you wasnt there thats all. They were not a good team, hardly created anything got 2 breaks from set pieces. We should never have lost that game.

No, but IMO you cant be a winger or creative winger in a side that wants to hit top 6 put in the performance we see on sat and not be under threat the next game thats my point.

"a terrible team at home"

Would that be the team that has the third most away points last season and isnt far behind that this season.

They have a fantastic record away from home.

No I wasn't there, my attendance doesn't change his contribution since he's been at the club.

" Id rather pick on current form then what players did last season."

I can understand that. I'm not sure I'd be picking a player who's only contribution this season is a (agreed - harsh) red card over a player who is joint 4th in assists so far this season though.

Masuaku is one of those players who gets better the less he plays, isn't he?

Him running to the half way line and being deeper than the ball all the time has nothing to do with him helping out defensively

Its proper proper shit wingers play

We can go back to last season whereby Anderson gets forward more, scores goals, but this is to the detriment of his defensive duties.

Stick with what we have now, an Anderson that tracks back more but consequently, doesnt get as many scoring opportunities.

Or play him in a Di Canio type role where you get the goals and assists, without having to worry so much about him tracking back.

Has to be worth a go.

This is not to say that you stick to this the whole time, but its an option that could well work on occaisions.
